ASCA 2025 Recap: A Clear Need for Credentialing Modernization

Earlier this month, the Modio team headed to Denver for the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association Annual Conference. Held in the Mile-High City, where the afternoons hit a perfect 72°F and the view of the Rockies inspired more than a few casual selfies, the event drew nearly 600 ASC leaders, vendors, and thought leaders from across the country.

What Stood Out

  • Manual processes still reign. In hallway chats and breakout sessions, more than half of the ASCs we spoke with admitted they’re managing provider credentials with paper files or basic spreadsheets. That leads to duplicate efforts, missed expirations and stress when survey day arrives.
  • Compliance pressure is real. Organizations accredited by AAAHC or certified by CMS face unrelenting on-site surveys. Several directors shared they’d spent the week digging through filing cabinets just to pull records for one quick question.
  • Curiosity around Modio’s OneView. After our midday demo of Modio OneView’s document uploads and expiration alerts, we saw a clear surge of interest. The crowd lingered longer than at neighboring tables, especially around setting up automatic reminders and centralized dashboards.

Fun Conference Highlights

  • We sampled five Colorado craft beers at the evening welcome reception and networked with vendors from three up-and-coming digital health startups.
  • A morning “Rocky Mountain breakfast” featured local honey-sweetened yogurt parfaits and mountain-grown coffee blends, and yes it was as good as it sounds.
  • Over 20 vendors set up in the expo hall, but the Modio booth stood out as one of the few offering live, hands-on demos rather than static slides.

The buzz around the exhibit hall and in small-group conversations made our takeaway crystal clear: there’s a huge appetite for moving away from filing cabinets and spreadsheets and toward a single, digital home for provider data.
