Modio’s John Bou Talks Automation in Back-Office Healthcare Operations

Provider credentialing is one of those tasks that only gets noticed when something goes wrong. Our Co-Founder and President, John Bou, recently shared his perspective on this exact challenge in a Healthcare IT Today roundup on automation in back-office healthcare systems.

His take: the industry spends more than $2 billion a year maintaining provider data, yet credentialing still takes 90 to 120+ days on average, often due to something as small as a missing field or an incomplete form. Those delays can cost providers hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost revenue and can even affect patient access to care.

John’s point is that automating the repetitive parts of credentialing (data input, retrieval, consolidation) won’t replace the human judgment the process still needs, but it closes the gaps that cause the worst delays.
